New Zealand Opens Borders, International Students Allowed Entry from April 2022
New Zealand Government has decided to reopen its borders for
international students from February 28 and announced a five-step plan on
February 3, outlining the country’s strategy for a border reopening. New
Zealand citizens living abroad in countries like Australia will be allowed to
return, along with highly skilled workers and travellers on working holiday
schemes in the first three stages. The fully vaccinated travellers can enter
New Zealand and self-isolate instead of going into managed isolation and
quarantine.
The Government allowed 5,000 International students to enter
New Zealand from April 12, 2022, to study for semester two this year and
allowed earlier affiliates approved in 2020 and 2021. When it comes to the
other international students, they will be able to enter the country from
October 2022 to start the 2022-23 academic year. Along with students, in this
fifth and final stage, the border will be open for all other New Zealand visa
holders, including visitors.
