There are several procedures and requirements to work as a foreign-trained physiotherapist in Switzerland. Here is a summary of the general procedure:
Swiss Red Cross Physiotherapy Registration Process
Check your eligibility for a qualification evaluation by completing the PreCheck assessment
Within four weeks, you will learn whether your PreCheck result was positive or negative.
If the outcome is favorable, you ask for the application materials and apply for recognition. If your test results are negative, you will be given information on alternative options.
Language Competence
You must demonstrate proficiency in French, German, or Italian. The three official languages of Switzerland are German, French, and Italian, and you must attain a Level B2 in German, French, or Italian.
Evaluation of qualification
Your qualification will then be compared with a Swiss Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy.
If your qualification is recognized directly, you do not need to take any further action. The recognition process (3–4 months) and your registration are complete.
If your qualification is not recognized directly, you will have the opportunity to top up your qualifications by taking an adaptation course or an aptitude test.
